The warm summer air was filled with the sounds of mariachi as Mariachi Continental de San Diego lit up the historic Redlands Bowl with their acclaimed mariachi experience, A World’s Tradition. This unforgettable free summer concert brought together families, couples, and music lovers from all walks of life for an evening of emotional connection, cultural storytelling, and unforgettable music.
A Cultural Journey Through Song and Story
A World’s Tradition is not just a concert — it’s a mariachi experience designed to bridge cultures. The performance offered rich context behind the music of Mexico, inviting audiences to learn about the origins of mariachi sub-genres and the countries that shaped them. Songs like “Volver Volver,” “El Rey,” and “Tragos de Amargo Licor” had the audience singing along, while vibrant cumbias turned the aisles into an impromptu dance floor.
But the magic didn’t stop at the music. Prior to the performance, the group led an educational outreach for young children, offering hands-on experience with mariachi instruments and the history behind them — making this event both culturally inclusive and educational.
